A £1.8 million project to address historical flooding issues in Alves has been completed.
The year-long project involved laying two miles of sewer on the Burghead Road from Alves to the junction of the B9089, where the maltings are located.
The million-pound project was carried out on behalf of Scottish Water by contractor Amey-Binnies to prevent sewage flooding in the area.
Project manager Sam Neill said: “We’re pleased to have completed this important project which will help prevent sewer flooding in this area, better protecting the local environment and ensuring the infrastructure can continue to serve the community for years to come.”
Gavin Steel, corporate affairs manager for Scottish Water thanked the public for their patience and understanding throughout the upgrade.
He said: “We appreciate that the need for some traffic management measures over the course of this project will have caused some inconvenience for local residents and drivers.
“We would like to thank them for their patience and understanding while we have completed this essential upgrade.”
