A Moray care home at the centre of concerns over “quality issues” has made significant improvements, inspectors have found.
Health and Social Care Moray’s probe into Cathay Care Home is finished.
In September, a large-scale inquiry was launched at the Forres care home after the Care Inspectorate raised some concerns about the quality of care.
It took place under Adult Support and Protection legislation.
HSC Moray worked closely with Care Concern, the operator of the care home.
It also worked with partner agencies including the Care Inspectorate to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.
Now the investigation has finished.
What did the investigation find?
According to a Care Inspectorate report, the home’s service has been re-graded as adequate and met the requirements.
A Health and Social Care Moray spokeswoman said: “The management team and staff at Cathay Nursing Home have worked hard to respond to the concerns which triggered the large-scale inquiry (LSI).
“They have been supported to work through a robust action plan. The improvements achieved to date have been received positively by residents, families and partner agencies.
“As a result of the significant changes evidenced over the last three months and with the required assurance that the management team has a focused plan to sustain improvement, we have now concluded the LSI.
“The safety and wellbeing of residents continues to be the highest priority.
“We will provide ongoing support to Cathay to ensure progress is maintained. This will be monitored on a regular basis.”
‘We are sorry that the home had fallen short’
A spokeswoman for Cathay Care Home apologised for the issues and said they have quickly resolved them.
She added: “We take our responsibilities as a provider of care extremely seriously and we are sorry that the home had fallen short of the standards we want and that residents and their loved ones rightly expect.
“We have recruited a new leadership team who worked closely with the Moray Health and Social Care Partnership to address areas of concern.
“The issues raised by the Care Inspectorate have also been quickly resolved within the time scales in our action plan and the service has been re-inspected.”
“The health, wellbeing and safety of our residents is our absolute priority. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure we are providing the highest quality care for every resident.”
“We are delighted with the recent feedback received from the Partnership and Care Inspectorate regarding improvements that have been made.”
