Rockers Big Country and Buzzcocks are the latest acts to join the line-up for the MacMoray festival in Elgin next year.

The groups have been added to the bill for the two-day Cooper Park event alongside Scooty and the Skyhooks.

The Highland-based eight-piece group was formed in the 1980s and packed dance floors across the north while working with groups including Deacon Blue, Texas and Runrig.

Meanwhile, Fife-based Big Country are one of Scotland’s most successful exports across the world with hits including In A Big Country, Fields Of Fire and Look Away.

And English rockers Buzzcocks are best known for their 1978 hit Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve), which has spanned the generations and featured in countless movies and TV shows.

Who else is on the MacMoray line-up?

Big Country, Buzzcocks and Scooty and the Skyhooks have been confirmed in the fourth wave of acts announced for next year’s MacMoray.

They follow dance superstars Cascada and Alice Deejay, 90s favourites Five and B*Witched and rockers Bay City Rollers, Nazareth and Sweet.

Organisers launched the Elgin festival for the first time this year with the aim of providing music to appeal to a range of generations.

This inaugural event featured Bob Geldof’s Boomtown Rats as well as S Club and the Vengaboys.

Due to the success of the festival, it has been expanded to a two-day event for 2023.

MacMoray is due to be held at Cooper Park in Elgin on April 29 and 30 next year from 10am to 11pm both days.

Tickets can be bought online from the festival website here.
