Photographers from Speyside to Slovakia are vying to capture the beauty of Moray.

Each year, the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Photography Competition draws entries from across the globe with 21 images now shortlisted by a panel of judges.

Members of the public are invited to vote on their favourite image either online or by visiting the festival information points in Aberlour and Dufftown during the festival from April 30 to May 4.

The People’s Choice winner will be announced at the festival’s closing ceilidh and prizegiving on Sunday, May 3.

The overall winner receives a five-day commission to attend the 2015 festival, along with other prizes.

Last year’s overall winner was John Macgregor, from Lossiemouth, and his image of a frosty morning in Duffus.

This year’s competition had three categories.

The three categories in this year’s competion were Icons of Speyside, Speyside in Monochrome and Flora and Fauna of Speyside.

Festival chairman James Campbell, a member of the judging panel, said: “This competition helps raise the profile of the festival, but, just as importantly, it has given amateur photographers the chance to share their work with the public when they may not have otherwise been able to do so. In all three categories, there are some truly fantastic images.

“The shortlisted photographs will form part of a touring exhibition, which will help us to spread the word about the festival across Scotland.

“We will be asking exhibition visitors to vote for their favourite image for the People’s Choice Award.”

Among the 400 events on offer over the five days of the festival are countless activities which push the boundaries of whisky enjoyment beyond the glass.

The “Queen of the Still” and Master of The Quaich, Martine Nouet, will be showing guests how to cook with malt whisky at the Oakwood Cookery School.

Cask Strength boys Joel Harrison and Neil Ridley will match five Aberlour whiskies with five different pieces of music — each expressing a story or style all of its own.

Meanwhile, after inspiring the quest to find the best dram for a bacon roll, Mike Lord, of The Whisky Shop Dufftown, will be hunting for the top Speyside whisky-inspired muffin or cupcake in the Great Speyside Bake Off.
