Moray young people survey offers festival trip

Young people across Moray are being asked for their views on living in the region – and could win tickets for a music festival just for taking part.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is surveying residents aged between 15 and 30 on issues such as education, jobs and cost of living.

The survey asks young people whether their hopes and aspirations have changed over the past six years, since a previous poll showed more needed to be done to retain the area’s youth.

The latest survey looks to gauge whether the string of programmes launched since then has been effective in making them want to remain in Moray.

Initiatives have included the ScotGrad placement scheme and the £146million roll-out of next generation broadband infrastructure led by HIE and BT.

HIE manager David Oxley said: “Young people are a vital part of a thriving region.

“Our previous study in 2009 highlighted the need to do more to attract and retain people between 15 and 30.

“We need to assess how aware young people across Moray are of opportunities and of what else we and our partners can and should be doing.”

Five people who take part will win a pair of three-day tickets for the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival later this summer.

The festival at Beauly, which runs from August 6, will be headlined by the Kaiser Chiefs and The Proclaimers.
