The people of Buckie will today find out who their newest councillor is.
The by-election was called following the sudden death of veteran councillor Joe Mackay, who was run over by his own mobility scooter in January.
The Buckie ward extends from Buckpool to Findochty, taking in Arradoul, Rathven, Portessie and Buckie.
With approximately 1,500 of 8,000 voters in the ward opting to take part by post, the polling stations were kept busy yesterday as voters ranked the three contenders by preference.
Voters had their choice of independent candidate Norman Calder, Scottish Conservative Tim Eagle and the SNP’s Sonya Warren.
Moray Council’s latest elected member will be revealed at this morning’s count, which will take place at 10am in Fishermen’s Hall, Buckie.
