An aspiring Moray chef stepped up to the plate at a recent cooking competition in London.
Moray College UHI hospitality student Jordan Miller, 16, was chosen from a field of cooks from across Britain to make it to the final eight of the contest.
Chefs were challenged to create dishes native to South Africa, and the Moray teenager had to compete against cooks almost 10 years his senior.
Jordan’s exotic menu featured a starter of pancetta bon bon, main course of bobotie of duck on puff pastry and a peach malva with almond ice cream for dessert.
He said: “I practiced every day and night for two weeks ahead of the competition, staying as late as I could in the college.
“At the competition a judge from Westminster College said he would never have had the courage to take part in something like that at my age.
“Though it was rather nerve-wracking, I’m keen to take on more contests now.”
The Elgin youngster was inspired to take up cooking by his grandad, Alexander Miller, who was a chef in the Army.
Jordan’s dream is to one day run his own restaurant abroad, saying that “aiming high is always the best way”.
Moray College’s acting principal Anne Lindsay said: “We are all very proud of Jordan’s achievement in reaching the final of this nationwide competition.
“This accolade reflects upon the very high standards of teaching in our hospitality and tourism academy.”
