A car was stolen from a Moray property yesterday morning – then discovered ablaze at a local primary school.
Police officers are appealing for information on the theft of the white Seat Ibiza, which was parked by Sandstone Drive at the Grange development in Elgin.
Police understand the car was taken around 3am yesterday.
It was later found on fire at Greenwards Primary School.
Thieves also attempted to break into another property still under construction in the Sandstone Drive area yesterday.
Elsewhere in the town, a scooter was stolen from the Castlehill Street area, before being recovered a short distance away.
Constable Laura Begg said: “These crimes happened overnight and I would appeal to anyone in the area who may have any information to contact Police Scotland.
“I would also like to remind local residents not to take any chances with their security. Keep your vehicles locked and your homes secure, even when you are inside. Keep your valuables out of sight and remember that a simple act such as keeping your car keys out of easy reach of your door can be vital. This will remove any easy chances for thieves.”
Anyone with information about any of the crimes is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11.
