Music lovers from across the north-east will be hitting the high notes at the 40th Keith Traditional Music and Song Association (TMSA) festival this weekend.
The gathering officially begins this evening with a choice of three events, all taking place at 8pm.
The opening ceilidh is being held in the bowling club, a bothy ballads concert is taking place in the Plough Inn and, for those who prefer more traditional music, an old time dance is on offer in the British Legion.
Tomorrow, the day starts with the official TMSA competitions. Entrants can register at the festival office in the pop up shop on Mid Street.
Saturday is billed as a family day and informal music sessions will be held in Shears, the Deli Shop, Plough Inn and Royal Hotel.
The winners from the day’s competitions will then perform at the prizewinners concert in St Thomas’ Hall at 6.30pm.
Blazin’ Fiddles will be the headline act for tomorrow night’s concert ceilidh in the Royal Hotel at 8pm, while two other events will run concurrently in the Bowling Club and the Plough Inn.
Sunday’s official programme begins at 1pm in the Bowling Club when children can enjoy music and song at the bairns ceilidh.
At 2pm the free open air concert will begin in Reidhaven Square, while the chorus quaich competition will take place in the Plough Inn lounge with a new start time of 3.30pm.
The festival will be officially capped off at a farewell concert in the Royal Hotel on Sunday night at 7.30pm, although the Plough Inn will host an orange juice ceilidh as a final parting shot on Monday afternoon.
Festival committee chairwoman Kathleen Anderson said: “Once again we have an extremely exciting, talented and enthusiastic line up of guest artists to entertain us at the 40th festival.
“Ticket sales are going really well so far and there are a few venues that will most likely be sell outs.”
Tickets and programmes are available from Mither Tongue, on Mid Street, or from the festival office at the Pop Up Shop.
