Hundreds of food lovers went home with satisfied tummies after the weekend’s Elgin Food and Drink Festival.
The event, organised by Elgin Business Improvement District (Bid), showcased the best grub in Moray and beyond, with more than 100 exhibits, demonstrations and market stalls also offering goodies from as far as Ullapool and the Black Isle.
The festival, now in its fifth year, included a cooking demonstration from celebrity guests Norman Calder – who shot to fame last year on the Great British Bake Off – and Arbroath sous chef Jamie Scott, who claimed the 2014 Masterchef crown.
After the event, Mr Calder said: “I had a great day at the City of Elgin Food and Drink festival.
“I gave two demonstrations and the cake was all eaten.”
Lewis Archer, of Buckie, attended the festival with three-year-old daughter, Ava Archer.
He said: “It was really good. It’s quite nice to actually see something so big happen in the centre of Elgin.
“As I was walking down the road, I could see all the shops that had been boarded up, so it was nice to see something positive happening in the street.
“Ava really enjoyed herself and my personal highlight was definitely the venison. There was a stall doing venison burgers and right beside it there was one doing the fresh venison, and I was surprised to see there was a bakery which had come from as far afield as Ullapool. It was nice to see that it’s not just the usuals.”
David Robertson, acting chairman of Elgin Bid, said: “It was a tremendously busy day and there was a really good vibe and a great family atmosphere the whole day.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who was involved in putting the festival together, from guys doing stewarding right through to those at Elgin Bid who drove it.
“The key thing is there was a real diversity on show, which featured all of what Moray and further afield has to offer.”
