Hundreds of charity hikers of all abilities will wind their way through the heart of Moray this weekend.
The Walk, organised by Lossiemouth-based children’s cancer charity Logan’s Fund, will challenge nearly 200 participants to complete either a 26-mile or 16-mile route starting at Buckie or Fochabers respectively.
There will also be a two-and-a-half mile family walk in Craigellachie.
And no matter their chosen route, all walkers will be cheered over the same finish line at Alice Littler Park in Aberlour.
Participants at Sunday’s event will be raising funds for their chosen children’s charity or local cause, with beneficiaries including Keane’s Stars, The Aila Coull Foundation, Cardiac Risk in the Youth and Keith Skatepark.
The team behind Logan’s Fund was inspired to hold The Walk after the Speyside Kiltwalk was cancelled.
The major fundraiser was cancelled amid financial difficulties, but after learning scores of walkers planned to stride the route regardless of the Kiltwalk’s collapse, The Walk blossomed into an official community-led replacement.
Keen charity walking duo Eilidh Brown and her six-year-old daughter Holly Myrvang-McAvoy will be among those starting the family walk from the Telford Bridge at 3pm, with a piper leading them from Craigellachie to Aberlour.
Before that, Craigellachie Village Council is hosting a Party in the Park from 1.45pm in the village play park.
Ms Brown said: “The Walk means a lot to folk like me and Holly, who have done loads of walks for charity.
“It seemed like there wouldn’t be anything and everyone has pulled together to make this happen and it is going ahead, it is brilliant.
“The fact there will be a party for the kids before the family walk seems like the right way to do it too because these kids deserve to be celebrated for their efforts.
“So many local people, businesses and organisations have stepped up to fill the gap and really demonstrated what can be done with just a bit of blood, sweat and effort on a shoe-string budget.
“Everyone involved with The Walk has proved you don’t need a Hollywood budget to make a difference.”
Walkers are being encouraged to park at the village hall or Fiddichside Park, due to limited spaces around the play area.
There will also be refreshments at the finish line, and well as musical entertainment by Ted Christopher at the after-party in the Mash Tun.
