The alleged incidents involving the boys, aged 14 and 16, happened in the Pilmuir area of the town on October 3 and 4. Police have also charged a 22-year-old man in connection with the vandalism of a police van that same weekend. Reports will be submitted to the relevant authorities and inquiries are ongoing into further incidents in the area. The arrests come after the recent launch of police crackdown on vandals after a series of wrecking sprees across the region. Operation Regard is aimed at protecting residents in “hotspots” — such as the Pilmuir area — who suffer as a result of the petty crimes. The operation will initially tackle crime in Forres before being rolled out across Moray following a 23% increase in vandalism so far in 2015.
