A man has been charged after a cat was allegedly shot and injured.
The 57-year-old was arrested after the animal was found injured in the Glenallachie area of Moray earlier this month.
Police said the Siamese cat was needed its leg amputated following the alleged incident.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 57-year-old man from the Glenallachie area of Moray has been charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the shooting of a domestic animal causing unnecessary suffering.
“The animal, which is understood to be a Siamese cat, was injured on 16 November 2015 and as a result of the injuries sustained, the cat’s leg required to be amputated.”
