These videos capture the stunning aerial feats a visiting fleet of aircraft are performing during crucial training exercises at RAF Lossiemouth.
A detachment of three Chinook helicopters from RAF Odiham, in Hampshire, took up residence at the Moray station on Sunday and have been thrilling onlookers with their daring displays all week.
The detachment, from 27 Squadron, features roughly 70 ground and air personnel.
Squadron Leader Justin Shaw said he was eager to take advantage of the unique training opportunities Moray would afford his copter pilots.
He said: “Operating in northern Scotland provides a unique and invaluable experience for my crews.
“It offers demanding terrain and changeable weather, and that coupled with the experience of operating from an unfamiliar airfield will allow the detachment personnel to fully develop their aviation skills.”
The Chinooks will take part in several short training exercises, including with 39 Engineer Regiment on their base at Kinloss Barracks.
Crews will also carry out mountain flying in the Cairngorms area, and on the Tain weapon range.
The helicopter crews will practice various skills, including underslung load manoeuvres and gunnery sorties.
The Chinook is an able and versatile support helicopter that can be armed with weapons to provide self-defence, and can be operated from land or ship in environments as diverse as the Arctic, jungles and deserts.
The copters will remain on base at RAF Lossiemouth until next Friday, January 29.
