A group of village volunteers have been promised thousands of pounds to transform a former Moray railway station into a beauty spot.
The Burghead Community Garden project has been pledged a sum of either £8,000, £10,000 or £12,00 to revamp the venue.
The team behind the initiative is now calling on Moray residents to offer it their backing, to ensure they net the largest amount possible.
At the moment the site has only one small wooden train for children to play on, and members are eager to boost its range of attractions for youngsters.
Organisers launched plans to re-purpose the unused three-acre Old Station Yard less than two years ago.
Since then, members have toiled to transform the spot into an visitor draw in its own right.
Burghead Amenities Association’s treasurer, Hilary Gloyer, said that even a minimum funding allocation of £8,000
would prove a massive boost to those efforts.
Mrs Gloyer said: “If we get the smallest grant, £8,000, that would allow us to pave the old platform area and get it like new.
“We could dot permanent planting boxes along it too, which would make a real difference.
“If we are able to get more than that then we want to get some play equipment to make the garden more child-friendly.
“We’d like to get a sandpit, a climbing frame or an in-ground trampoline, it would be lovely to have things to bring small children in.”
Mrs Gloyer said that, should the group claim the top prize of £12,000, they would purchase a pergola shelter to enable them to carry out planting during adverse weather conditions.
The addition would also allow members to stage outdoor concerts and fairs during the summer.
Mrs Gloyer added: “We have had a lot of support from people in Burghead already to get this far, it’s been a real community effort.
“Now we just really want folk to vote for us, we want to make this a real asset for the village.”
The joint funding programme has been launched by environmental group Greenspace Scotland and Tesco, with all donations being raised through plastic bag sales at the supermarket.
The public will be able to vote for which schemes they would like to support in store between Saturday, February 27, and Sunday, March 6.
