Four people have been seriously injured following a collision between two vehicles on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Lhanbryde just after 4pm and the road is now closed in both directions.
One person has been airlifted to hospital and three others have been taken by Ambulance to Dr Grays hospital in Elgin.
All four are understood to have serious injuries and that two had to be freed by fire crews from the crashed vehicles.
A fire service spokesman confirmed that cutting gear was used to get them out.
A spokesman for the Scottish ambulance service added:”There were four ambulances and one helicopter in attendance, it is believed to be a serious road traffic collision and have been a head on collision between the two cars.”
Motorists travelling west are asked to leave the A96 at Mosstodloch and take the B9015 south then the B9103 back to the A96.
People heading heading east should go through Lhanbryde.
UPDATE: Police have confirmed that one woman has been airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by the coastguard.
The coastguard helicopter was dispatched from Lossiemouth to assist in the transport.
The state of the woman is not currently known.
