A Moray man narrowly avoided jail yesterday after admitting assaulting a group of friends in a bar while on a night out.
Kyle Stewart, of Oldmill Court, Flat 10, Garden Lane, Buckie, butted two men and struck another on the head with a chair in the Pub in the Square in Buckie on April 22 last year.
Fiscal Fraser Matheson told Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday that the 23-year-old had lashed out after he felt his accent was being mocked by a man at the bar, who had asked him to repeat part of a conversation.
Sheriff Olga Pastportnikov described it as “disgraceful behaviour”.
Stewart, who was on bail at the time, was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within 12 months and fined £200. He must also pay £500 in compensation to his victims.
