Moray residents have been encouraged to become a part of one of the region’s most eagerly awaited summer celebrations.
Piping at Forres regularly attracts thousands of traditional music fans to the town, as Europe’s best bands battle for supremacy.
Organisers are now trying to drum up interest amongst locals looking to get involved in the action.
They say volunteers have helped ensure the competition’s smooth running since its launch in 2013, and are “key” to its success.
The contest is run by the Forres Events Ltd association, and its chairman is hoping that by volunteering his time to the role, he is leading by example.
Alan James said: “Piping At Forres not only offers a great day out for all the family, but it has a significant economic benefit to the area.
“The volunteers are an essential part of the team that helps deliver this.
“Our visitors and competitors have praised the friendliness of the local community in past years, and I hope that we will be able to offer them a really memorable and enjoyable experience again this year.”
The event offers volunteering jobs that suit all abilities before, during and after the day itself.
During the bash, volunteers work in teams interacting with the visitors, selling programmes and keeping Grant Park tidy.
They also assist with setting up and taking down its stalls, tent and barriers.
The European Pipe Band Championship event will take place at Grant Park on Saturday, June 25.
This year’s event will be held in tribute to two of the festival’s leading lights – who passed away within months of each other over winter.
David Urquhart died of cancer at the end of November, following a valiant fight against the disease.
Whisky industry legend Mr Urquhart helped Gordon and Macphail to blossom into a global powerhouse during his tenure at the firm’s helm.
He then used his influence to boost Moray’s economy, and devoted his final years to helping expand the piping extravaganza.
Mr Urquhart was a particular supporter of the event’s World Tattie Scone Championship contest, and the winner’s prize will be presented in his honour by his widow Sheila.
Piping at Forres chairman Ian Widdowson died following a car crash on New Year’s Day, and was praised for his “total commitment” to the event.
