The new chairwoman of Moray Council’s tenants’ forum has urged residents to get involved in shaping the housing service in the region.
Katy Holmes, who has stayed in one of the local authority’s homes for 20 years, stepped up from the vice-chairwoman role at the group’s annual meeting.
She said: “It’s an exciting time to get involved and I hope that tenants will come along to our meetings, so they can have a say about housing services.
“Our meetings are informal and friendly and any council tenants are welcome to join us.”
“I recently took part in a training programme and we have set up a service improvement panel to inspect aspects of the housing service.”
The next forum meeting is in Elgin on June 21. Expenses to cover travel costs and childcare are available from the local authority.
Councillor George Alexander, chairman of the council’s communities committee, said: “I am delighted to welcome Katy Holmes as the new chairman of the tenants’ forum and I have no doubt that she will do a very good job representing the interests of all our tenants.
“I would strongly encourage other tenants to become involved in the forum and to help shape the future of housing services here in Moray.”
