Police have launched an investigation after the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered in a Moray loch.
The man, who has not yet been named, was reported missing from his home, prior to officers tracing his body in Forres’s Sanquhar Loch in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Yesterday, a police spokesman said that inquiries were at an early stage and a cause of death had not yet been determined.
Police, coastguard teams, and the fire and rescue and ambulance services were all involved in the search.
The man’s body was found at 3.15am, in the expanse of water to the south of the town.
A police spokesman said: “Officers are currently carrying out inquiries into the death of a 42-year-old man, who was reported missing in the Forres area at the weekend.
“Following a search around the area of Sanquhar Loch, the body of a male was recovered from the water.”
