Some of the world’s finest classical musicians will showcase their talent at a concert in Moray later this month.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra will be joined by renowned German conductor, Wolfram Christ, during a performance at Findhorn’s Universal Hall on Saturday, June 25.
The group has made the hall, which is part of the village’s Findhorn Foundation eco-community, a regular stop on its summer tours.
They have enjoyed entertaining “great crowds” at the picturesque venue, which the orchestra described as the “perfect setting” for its shows.
Universal Hall’s David Till said the natural structure’s acoustics made it a favourite among instrumentalists.
Mr Till said: “We are always pleased to welcome the orchestra.
“The hall is made entirely from natural materials, so they really like the acoustics here.
“And there is a very special atmosphere, because the audience is so close and they are all around the stage. It’s like a cauldron.”
The Edinburgh-based ensemble will mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death during the concert.
They will play music from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in homage to the legendary playwright.
German maestro, Mr Christ, who is principal guest conductor of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, will preside over a rendition of Mozart’s Serenata Notturna.
He will subsequently conclude the concert with Mendelssohn’s Fourth Symphony.
The SCO’s principal horn, Alec Frank-Gemmill, who regularly features as a guest with many of the world’s most famous orchestras, will play Lortzing’s Concert Piece for Horn and Orchestra.
Tickets can be purchased from the Phoenix Store at the Findhorn Foundation, or via www.sco.org.uk.
