The next phase of work to build the new Elgin High School has begun.
Construction crews from Balfour Beatty have started driving steel piles into the ground with a hydraulic ram to form the new teaching block.
Extra noise and vibrations will be felt in the area while the work is taking place. School pupils hand-delivered leaflets to nearby houses last week to tell residents about the work.
Moray Council has said the project is “progressing well” and the main construction work will start once the piling has been done.
A spokesman for the local authority said work would be timed to cause minimum disruption to nearby residents.
He said: “There is the potential for some disturbance to people living nearby but every effort will be made to keep noise and vibration to a minimum.
“The work will be carried out between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 7am and 4pm on Saturday and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
The new £30million school, which will have room for more than 1,000 pupils, is expected to be finished for pupils to move into by June 2018.
