The quietest pipe band in Scotland are gearing up for their annual performance.
Volunteers have been furiously knitting the 30-member group together in time for the annual piping festival in Forres.
Lead by Pip the Major, supported by his woolly one-foot crew featuring Archibald the Piper, the group will be ready for the European Pipe Band championships.
Sharon Robertson, owner of Varis Crafts, has been coordinating the stitch and stuff team of 10 volunteers.
She said: “We try and pick colours that everyone likes, so there’s a mix of different tastes. There’s about 30 of them in total and they’ll be together as a band for Piping at Forres.”
Betty McKay, 82, has knitted the group for the event previously, but has missed out on the fun this year due to sore wrist.
As well as the musicians being knitted they come complete with woolly instruments and clothes, including delicate sporrans, drums and kilts.
Each band member takes about a week to complete and will be sold at Piping at Forres on Saturday, June 25 to raise money for Highland Hospice and the Moray MS Support Group.
Allan James, chairman of Forres Events, said: “Betty has done a fantastic job in knitting these pipers for the last few years and it is really touching that Sharon and her team have stepped in to keep knitting for such good causes. This demonstrates a wonderful community spirit which is at the heart of the origin of hosting these championships and makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
