A96 blocked following two-car accident near Elgin

The A96 was blocked this morning following a two-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Elgin.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Sherifston at 8.40am after a collision between a Volkswagen Jetta and a Volkswagen Polo.

As a result of the accident the both lanes of the road were blocked with local diversions set up. The busy route reopened about an hour later.

Fire and ambulance crews rushed to scene one mile from Elgin after an emergency call was placed.

A fire spokesman said: “Nobody was trapped or needed to be cut out. We just made the scene and the vehicle safe.”

An ambulance spokesman said: “Nobody required to be taken to hospital.”
