A major north-east road has been re-opened to traffic after being closed while engineers worked on a serious gas leak.
The A96 road was closed to traffic in both directions between Elgin and Lhanbryde.
The incident was originally believed to be linked to recent gasworks taking place in the area, but distribution firm SGN has since insisted that it was “unrelated”.
Moray Council confirmed that diversions had been put in the place while emergency repair work was ongoing.
Eastbound traffic was directed along the A941 to Lossiemouth, and then the B9103 to Sherrifston.
Westbound motorists were forced to take the same alternative route, but in reverse.
