Many young boys fantasise about one day joining one of Europe’s biggest football clubs.
And, while Angus Hargreaves might be plying his trade behind the scenes rather than on the famous Etihad Stadium turf, he says it’s still a dream come true to be working for Manchester City.
The 21-year-old, from Carron, near Aberlour, picked up a first class honours degree in management from the Robert Gordon University (RGU) yesterday.
Mr Hargreaves said he was still coming to terms with the news that he would be going to work as a procurement analyst for one of the world’s richest football clubs, starting on Monday.
He said: “I just knew I was applying for a job at a large sporting organisation, it wasn’t until they called me back that I found out it was Man City.
“I’ll be dealing with a lot of the commercial partnerships and sponsorship related to the stadium and training facility.
“The perks are still to be discussed but hopefully there will be a few Manchester derby tickets on the cards.”
Mr Hargreaves was joined at His Majesty’s Theatre by his mother, Hilary, and girlfriend, Ellen.
He admitted he was initially anxious about moving from a rural area to the Granite City.
“Obviously coming to a city was a bit daunting so Aberdeen was a good option because it’s close to home and it’s not too big either.
“I did my research and saw RGU had a really good business school, which was a big factor.
“It’s a big relief to finally finish, I feel a lot lighter.”
