A leading north-east cancer support charity is launching a new base in Moray next month.
Clan Cancer Support will have a presence in Buckie for the first time when it opens its doors at the Seafield Medical Centre on Barhill Road.
Local residents have been invited to the official launch at 1pm on Monday, August 22 to meet the team and learn about the organisation.
The charity – which already has a base in Elgin – provides emotional and practical help such as counselling, support for children and complementary therapies.
Clan’s Tracy Sellar said: “Since Clan opened in Elgin three years ago, we have seen a steady increase in the need for our wellbeing and support services throughout the area.
“As we developed our services in Elgin and Lossiemouth, it became apparent there was a growing need for services based within a closer proximity to Buckie.”
The area co-ordinator explained how the charity had worked with community groups in the area to reach as many people affected by cancer as possible.
She added: “Bringing Clan’s services to the heart of another community with the Moray area, and providing the support people require is one of our key priorities.
“By committing to piloting our services within the Seafield Centre for a three-month period, we have the opportunity to work with clients and further shape CLAN’s service offering to reflect what is required.”
Based in Aberdeen, the charity operates in Ballater, Banchory, Elgin, Inverurie, Fraserburgh, Lossiemouth, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Turriff, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
