The body of a Moray pensioner has been recovered from the banks of the River Spey.
Peter Walker’s body was found by a member of the public along the expanse on Wednesday afternoon, just upstream of Garmouth.
The 81-year-old lived in Mosstodloch, and it is understood he was reported missing from his home only shortly after the discovery was made.
It is also believed Mr Walker suffered from Alzheimers, and police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that officers were called at approximately 3.00pm on Wednesday, following the discovery of a man’s body in the River Spey upstream of Garmouth.
“There are no suspicious circumstances.
“The man’s next of kin are aware and we can advise that the man was Peter Walker, aged 81, of Mosstodloch.
“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Mr Walker’s passing follows the death of two other Moray pensioners in the fast-flowing waters earlier this year.
Kathleen Edward, 85, from Aberlour, and 77-year-old Rosemary Laing from Rothes were found dead after going missing from their homes in January.
Neighbours declared that both women would be “sadly missed”.
