An ongoing project to revamp a north-east landmark has received a £664,000 cash boost.
Aberdeenshire Council is redeveloping the Vinery building at Duff House in Banff, and yesterday announced the funding injection courtesy of a Scottish Government regeneration scheme.
The historic B-listed greenhouse and attached bothy had become run-down over the years prior to the restoration work beginning in December.
Once it has been restored to its former glory, the Scottish Association for Mental Health will take on the site and use it as a therapeutic space.
Chairman of the Banff and Buchan area committee, Andy Kille said: “We are delighted to have received this news and that we can continue work to convert this building, which is in such a prominent location in the town, into a centre for therapeutic gardening and growing for the local community.
“The focus here is on mental health, wellbeing and growing skills as well as plants.”
The next stage the project will commence once restrictions on such work are lifted.
