A man has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after his dinghy capsized off the north-east coast.
The casualty is understood to be suffering from hypothermia and minor cuts following the incident which happened off the coast at Collieston, south of Cruden Bay.
Peterhead lifeboat was called out just after 10.30am when a member of the public alerted Aberdeen Coastguard to the incident.
The Cruden Bay coastguard rescue team were also in attendance.
The man is believed to have clung to the hull of the dinghy before deciding to swim the distance to Collieston.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: “We got a 999 call at about 10.30am from someone who lives in Collieston who could see it. He managed to swim ahore, he was about 400 metres (440 yards) out.
“He was just out there having a sail, the weather is actually quite nice.”
Police were called to the scene at 10.40am and an ambulance arrived 10 minutes later.
