The body of a man has been found on the north-east coast near Boddam.
Officers made the discovery shortly before lunchtime.
A spokeswoman for the service said: “We can confirm that shortly before midday today the body of a man was found on the north-east coast at Boddam.
“Formal identification is yet to take place however the family of 24-year-old Ruairidh Sandison who went missing from Peterhead on Saturday August 10 have been informed.”
The Aberdeen Coastguard was paged at 1.07pm to assist.
The 24-year-old disappeared after a night out land was last seen by a taxi driver around 4.20am on August 10 in the Gadle Braes area of Peterhead.
Police searches uncovered CCTV footage of Mr Sandison, still in the same area of the town at around 5.10am that morning.
His disappearance sparked a multi-agency search in the north-east.
