Figures released by the Scottish Government on Friday revealed there were 25 new cases in the last 24 hours. There are four new cases in Grampian, bringing the total there to 11. There are three cases in Tayside and four in Fife. But the true number of people with the virus is likely to be much higher as patients with symptoms are no longer being routinely tested. The surge in numbers comes just hours after the Scottish football season was suspended indefinitely due to spread of coronavirus. There are now 798 cases across the UK, up from 590 on Thursday.
