In a key result as the Scottish Conservatives look to establish a blue surge across the north-east, Tory candidate Andrew Bowie has swept to victory.
Mr Bowie, a former officer in the Royal Navy, currently works at the Scottish Parliament as head of office for Liam Kerr MSP and who has also served as a rural affairs advisor and parliamentary assistant to Ian Duncan MEP in Brussels
The 29-year-old was educated at Inverurie Academy, Britannia Royal Naval College and the University of Aberdeen.
The result is just one of a number of constituencies across the north targeted by the Conservatives as they looked to capitalise on a perceived fall in support for Scottish independence and the SNP.
He defeated SNP’s Stuart Donaldson, Labour’s Barry Black and John Waddell, Liberal Democrat.
