The body recovered from the River Tay yesterday is that of missing 15-year-old Kathleen Harkin.
Police Scotland confirmed the identity earlier today after the discovery was made near St Madoes, Perthshire.
Kathleen Harkin, 15, was last seen on the banks of the River Tay near Woody Island in the North Muirton area at around 9.30pm on Saturday.
Her mobile phone was handed in to police by a member of the public who found it in the area, and officers said they were “extremely concerned” for her welfare.
Specialist units including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, a dive and marine unit and a police helicopter were deployed to search the area of Woody Island and along the river from Scone Palace to the bridges in Perth city centre.
