A man posed as a modelling agent to approach a teenager online and asked her to expose herself.
The 15-year-old schoolgirl from Cumbernauld was contacted by someone claiming to be from Base Models, a modelling agency in London and told her he was interesting in hiring her.
He later asked her to expose herself via Skype.
The company is legitimate, however they have said the man is not an employee.
A spokesman for the company said: “Be aware there are many individuals, fake photographers and scouts using the internet claiming to be affiliated or members of Base Models.
“Should you be contacted by anyone claiming to be any of the above, you should first contact our office immediately so we can verify their identity.
“Base Models never conducts interviews via Skype, never requests nude or lingerie photos and never requires any money from applicants.
“If at any time someone claiming to be a booker, scout or manager of any model agency contacts you, inform your parents or a responsible adult.”
Police have now issued a warning to be careful online and urged anyone who has been a victim of indecent communication to contact them on 101 or to attend your local office.
