The organisers of Scotland’s T in the Park music festival are in talks with council chiefs in Glasgow about staging a new event in the city.
DF Concerts has held talks with Glasgow City Council, although no official details have yet been announced.
The three-day event could reportedly be held at Glasgow Green in July next year, the same month T in the Park usually takes place.
It has prompted speculation that T in the Park, which is Scotland’s largest music festival, may not take place in 2017.
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council confirmed: “We are in discussions with DF Concerts about hosting a non-camping festival in the city next July.
“We will not be, and are not interested in, hosting T in the Park.”
The festival, which attracts tens of thousands of revellers from across the UK, this year included the Stone Roses and Calvin Harris among its headliners.
Two teenagers died at the festival site, Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, before any of the acts had taken to the stage.
