A little girl who sent presents to a dog without a “real family” has been traced following a country-wide search.
Generous Zoe Raynor, eight, sent a package including tennis balls and rubber toys to an animal shelter just before Christmas.
Her enclosed card, addressed to the SPCA, read: “I’ve got a gift for a dog. Tell them I’m so sorry that you don’t have a real family.
“Love, Zoe Raynor.”
The gifts were sent to the animal charity’s HQ in Dunfermline, Fife, and bosses launched a national hunt to find the little girl.
They finally managed to trace Zoe, from Glenrothes, Fife, and treated her to a meet and greet with animals at their in Edinburgh centre on the weekend.
Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre Superintendent Sharon Comrie said: “Zoe sent us a handmade card along with some super treats and we just had to say thanks to her in person.”
Edinburgh Centre Manager Diane Aitchison added: “Zoe had a fantastic time at the centre. Her favourite animal is a dog so we made sure she had a chance to see them.
“We had a mini question and answer session with our animal care assistant Emma where Zoe asked a lot of questions.
“[She] was very curious about horses as she’s found a new love for horse riding recently.”
“She got to have a cuddle with Diamond, one of our cats in the centre, and we made sure she got some goodies to take home as well.”
