People have been warned to stay indoors as emergency services deal with a “major incident” at the Grangemouth oil refinery.
INEOS tweeted at 1.15pm confirming there was an incident ongoing at the plant and told people to standby for more information.
They have since said their on-site responders are continuing to manage the incident with support from the emergency services.
It is understood the incident relates to a gas leak and staff have been evacuated.

A Falkirk Council spokesman said it will be having an emergency planning officer meeting with other services to get briefed on the situation.
He added they were asked as a precaution that local schools keep their pupils in at lunchtime.
A fire spokeswoman said: “At 12.12pm the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a gas leak at the Grangemouth petrochemical site.
“Eight appliances are currently in attendance to assist emergency service partners.”
A police spokesman said: “Emergency services at the scene of an incident at Grangemouth. All emergency services, local authority and partners are in attendance.
“A number of access roads in the Grangemouth area are closed, drivers are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”

Emergency services have responded to a major incident following a gas leak at the Ineos site at Grangemouth.
The incident was initially reported at 12.15pm and a multi-agency response was initiated.
Superintendent Brian Auld said the incident has been contained on site and expert personnel are in attendance.
Local road closures remain in place and members of the public are advised to go about their normal business.
