Scores of desperate families have turned to social media today as efforts to trace people missing after last night’s terror attack in Manchester continue.
Two teenage girls, Laura MacIntyre and Eilidh MacLeod, both 15, have not been heard from since the blast at an Ariana Grande concert in the Manchester Evening News arena last night.
Pictures of dozens of others, many of them children, are also being circulated on social media in a bid to help worried love ones find out if they are safe.
Facebook has activated its ‘safety check’ feature to allow those in the area let others know they are safe.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion at the concert.
At least 22 people have been killed, including children, and a further 59 injured.
Chief Constable Ian Hopkins of Greater Manchester Police, said at a press conference that an emergency number has been set up for those worried about loved ones: 0161 856 9400.
He said police were currently treating it as a terrorist incident until they have further information.
He added: “This is clearly a very concerning time for everyone. We are doing all that we can.”
Very worried about 2 missing girls from Island of Barra who were in Manchester last night.
