Cops were called out to deal with a late night llama drama after the animal escaped from a fun park.
The bizarre incident happened at about 2.20am on Wednesday when a member of the public reported seeing the animal on a road in Dumfries.
Officers managed to track down the llama and encouraged it back into a field at the nearby Dalscone Farm Fun park.
A spokesman said they managed to return.
In a statement on the force’s Facebook page, he said: “As police officers, we undertake lots of training to make sure we can respond to any situation.
“However, we must have missed the page about dealing with an escaped llama in the middle of Dumfries during our nightshifts!
“But ever the professionals it was no prob-llama for our cops who alpaca’d his bags and returned him home.”
In a further post on the Dumfries Galloway Police Division Facebook page, the force added a cheeky llama joke.
It read: “This post follows last months incident when one of our police officers stopped a man in a car with a llama in the front seat.
“‘What are you doing with that llama?’ He asked, ‘You need to take it to the zoo.’
“The following week, the same officer sees the same man with the llama again in the front seat, with both of them wearing sunglasses.
“Our officer pulls him over. ‘I thought you were going to take that llama to the zoo!’
“The man replied, ‘I did. We had such a good time we are going to the beach this weekend!'”
