A woman had to be cut free from her car after a serious two-vehicle crash on the A90.
A section of the southbound carriageway of the road at Tealing, north of Dundee, was closed at around 5pm for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Police, fire and ambulance were all in attendance, as well as Scotland’s only charity air ambulance.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said three appliances were sent to the scene.
One woman was trapped in her car and was cut out by firefighters while an adult and two children had been removed from a vehicle prior to the fire service arriving.
It is understood the four patients were all taken to hospital.
She added firefighters made the scene safe and the stop message came in at 6.20pm.
The road re-opened just after half 8.
