A 36-year-old man has been arrested and detained in police custody following an incident in Blantyre.
Morris Crescent was sealed off while police dealt with a man who was inside a house with a crossbow.
Firearms officers, negotiators and uniformed officers all attended at the scene and a cordon was put in place as a precaution.
South Lanarkshire Council tweeted that due to the incident, “Calderside Academy & Calderside Nursery are being kept in the premises as a precaution.”
The second tweet read: “Police have confirmed the incident is contained within a house, the school is not involved. We will continue to liaise with the police.”
A police statement later confirmed a woman was being checked over by ambulance staff and fire crews were working to extinguish a fire within the property.
