The RNLI had to launch lifeboats off Scotland’s coast an average of three times a day last year.
Crews were sent out 1,159 times, while lifeguards helped with 207 incidents over the course of 2017.
In total, the lifesavers assisted 1,219 people.
The figures have been released as the RNLI reiterates its warning to “respect the water” during the upcoming school holidays.
While there may be clear skies and warm temperatures ahead, the organisation says sea water will still be very gold.
Michael Avril from the RNLI said: “Despite the commitment of our crews, tragically at least one person dies from drowning in the UK and Ireland each day.
“We believe that one drowning is one too many and we would encourage people to think ahead and to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their family safe at the coast.”
