Frank Dewar, from Forres, was involved in the crash that included an HGV on the A9 Perth to Inverness road on Thursday. Last night, police named the 71-year-old as the victim of the incident near the Blair Atholl turn-off. An air ambulance joined two road ambulances, police and fire crews in the response to the accident on the A9. Emergency crews were notified about the incident shortly before 1pm. The road was closed for about nine hours to allow investigations to be done. A police spokesman said: “Mr Dewar was the driver and sole occupant of one of the cars involved in a four-vehicle collision. “Our thoughts are with Mr Dewar’s family and friends at this sad time.” An ambulance service spokesman said: “We received a call at 12.55pm to attend a road traffic incident on the A9, near Killiecrankie. “We dispatched two ambulance crews, a special operations crew and an air ambulance to the scene. Two patients were treated at the scene.” Officers have confirmed that they are not appealing for witnesses or any further information about the incident.
