Former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond outside the Court of Session in Edinburgh
Former First Minister Alex Salmond has been arrested and charged.
The Crown Office confirmed that he is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm a 64-year-old man has been arrested and charged and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal and that proceedings are now active under the Contempt of Court Act.”
The nature of the alleged offence has not yet been confirmed.
