Police have confirmed that a man who was missing in Oban for seven days has been traced safe and well.
Concern had been growing for 65-year-old Daniel Sirrell who was last seen in the town’s George Street, late on Saturday November 23.
He had been staying at the Lancaster Hotel on Corran Esplanade, but wasn’t seen for several days and was reported missing.
Police appealed last week for sightings of Mr Sirrell, with some people coming forward to say a man had been seen sleeping rough in the town centre. But it transpired that this was not him and appeals to find him continued.
Today a police spokeswoman said: “Daniel Sirrell has been traced safe and well in the south of England.”
Police spoke to several people in an attempt to trace Mr Sirrell. He had just moved to the town from Glasgow and was not believed to have any relatives in Oban.
