Coastguards, police, ambulance, fire services and a lifeboat were called out when four empty kayaks were spotted in a loch.
Emergency services responded to reports of the kayaks being swept into Loch Etive from the River Awe in Argyll at 2.45pm on Saturday.
The coastguard requested the launch of the Oban RNLI team following the sighting of the kayaks near Taynuilt.
But it was quickly established that the occupants of the kayaks were safe.
A lifeboat spokesman said: “Oban Lifeboat arrived on scene at 3.05pm to discover that three of the kayaks had been recovered by a local fish farm vessel.
“As the search was about to get under way a kayak club contacted the UK Coastguard to inform them that they had lost their kayaks on the River Awe, and that all of their occupants were accounted for. Oban lifeboat was therefore able to depart the scene.”
