An investigation has been launched after a diver died off Oban.
It is believed the 50-year-old got into difficulties in the Sound of Kerrea.
Police said the death was being treated as “unexplained” but said that there were “no suspicious circumstances”.
The man was with a group of divers who were located on the shore at south of Oban.
It is believed the death is not weather-related.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “At 10.15am a 999 call was received by HM Coastguard regarding a diver in difficulty near Oban.
“A coastguard helicopter, the Oban Coastguard Rescue Team and Oban Lifeboat were sent to the scene. The diver was recovered from the water by people on scene.”
A police spokesman said: “Police are currently investigating the sudden death of a 50-year-old man in South Oban, at around 10.40am on Sunday. The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
