Routine dental care services in high street practices in Scotland have been suspended as of today.
The temporary halt to dental procedures has been enforced in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
People in need of urgent dental work are instructed to contact their local practice who will be able to provide advice, reassurance or telephone assessment.
An NHS statement said: “If your dentist confirms that you have an urgent dental need and you have no symptoms of Covid-19, you will be offered an appointment at an urgent dental care centre.
“If you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 you will be contacted by staff from the designated Covid-19 urgent dental care centre.
“Outside normal working hours, if feel you have an urgent dental need, please contact NHS24.”
NHS24 staff can be contacted by calling 111. Further advice regarding Covid-19 and what to do if you have symptoms can be found on the NHS Inform website.
