Oban councillors are hoping local businesses will learn a valid lesson following an outbreak of Covid-19 at a popular restaurant.
Gelatoburger on George Street were forced to close their doors on Thursday after a member of back of house staff tested positive for the virus.
Members of Oban Lorn and the Isles Area committee held an urgent meeting on Friday to discuss the situation.
Members are now hopeful the outbreak will act as a “wake-up call” to businesses in the seaside town.
In a statement they said: “We absolutely recognise, acknowledge, and share the very real concern within the community.
“This is a huge ‘wake- up call’ and a learning experience to everyone in this area. The virus is still prevalent in our local communities and is far from over. We know that many businesses in our local area have taken adherence to guidance extremely seriously and we applaud those who have engaged meaningfully and worked hard to adopt the new practices and ways of working required.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish the lady affected all the best for a speedy recovery.”
